What Is Microneedling?
Microneedling is the insertion of very fine short needles into the skin for the purpose of rejuvenation. The premise is simple—create a small wound and the skin will respond with collagen production and new skin cells. Depending on the depth of the needle penetration, this can offer skin rejuvenation levels from the simple enhancement of product absorption to the clinical treatment of scars and wrinkles.

How Does Microneedling Work?
The needles create tiny micro-channels on the surface of the skin (epidermis). The micro-channels stimulate a healing response in the skin, which increases production of both collagen and elastin. Having more collagen and elastin causes the skin to become firmer, reduces scars gradually, and smooths wrinkles over time. Can be performed on the face, neck, scalp, stomach, thighs, and arms. As the micro-needles penetrate the skin causing micro-wounds, it triggers an intense inflammatory reaction that begins a cascade of subsequent reactions. The skin's nerve receptors and defense mechanisms sense these fine needle intrusions as a specific type of injury and heals accordingly. Also:

  • Needles go to the epidermal layer
  • Performed once a month
  • Face Depth 0.25-1.00mm
  • Usually 4-6 sessions, results last 3-5 years!

Benefits of Microneedling:

  • Little downtime: usually 12-24 hours
  • Low risk, effective, and comfortable
  • Natural collagen production
  • Reduces stretch marks
  • Improves acne scars
  • Decreases hair and eyebrows loss
  • Improves wrinkles on neck
  • Long term results

Contraindications of Microneedling:

  • Blood dyscrasias, patients on blood thinners
  • Patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation
  • Patients with moderate to severe skin conditions such as psoriasis, rosacea, eczema or active acne or infection, warts, herpes
  • Severe keloids, keloid scars
  • Pregnancy

What Is Nanoneedling?
Nanoneedling uses the same type of oscillating motion to treat the skin, but the cartridge encompasses 81 silicone tips. These microscopic hair-like cones separate the cells within the epidermis to allow active products to be pushed into the skin. Nanoneedling only affects the epidermis, treating within the upper 0.15mm of the skin. The benefits of this serum infusion treatment include pigmentation reduction, increased cell turnover, skin rejuvenation, and an immediate glow with no downtime. This treatment can be done weekly to exfoliate the skin. Also:

  • Can be performed up to twice a week
  • Needles are 0.15mm depth
  • Good for around eyes, lips, hands
  • Enhances serum absorption by 97%
  • Does not require any numbing cream and has zero downtime
  • Less redness

Microneedling vs. Nanoneedling:
Microneedling is best for targeting deeper wrinkles, scarring, pigmentation, and more, while Nanoneedling allows for your products to be absorbed better and will give you more of an instant glow!
